These are applications sent on behalf of Canadian companies to the Federal Government to assess whether or not the need for foreign workers in their respective region is necessary. These LMIA's can be used to apply for initial work permits into Canada, extend work permits of those who are already in Canada and can also support an applicant's express entry application.

to the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) ; the program will assess
whether or not these companies have labour shortages. A 'LMIA' can be used
to extend current foreign workers, bring in new foreign workers or help
support Express Entry applications.
